Special Issue Title: Computational Intelligence for New Computing Environments
Traditional Computational Intelligence plays an important role in solving a variety of computing tasks in cyberspace. The existing computing models and computing environments have changed immensely due to the rapid advancements in mobile computing, big data, and cyberspace-based supporting technologies such as cloud computing, Internet-of-Things and other large-scale computing environments. They call for new paradigms and Computational Intelligence constitutes here a promising alternative as the real-world optimization problems have become intractable when dealt with the use of “traditional” methods. At the same time, Computational Intelligence considered in this context is faced directly with challenges associated with the distributed and/or mobile environments and massive data processing. Furthermore, immediate efforts are needed to explore the security and privacy issues of the above-mentioned new environments within the cyberspace. Such issues can be investigated from the two different, orthogonal and of equal importance, points of view. On the one hand, research can be carried out on how these issues can be supported by the methods of Computational Intelligence; on the other hand, studies can be performed on how Computational Intelligence can provide quality of solutions offered to resolve those issues.
This special issue aims to present the recent developments in the new theories and technologies of Computational Intelligence applied to cloud computing, mobile networks and big data new environments.
