Conference Services: Invited to organize, chair, and participate in numerous international and domestic conferences. Served as Program Committee Chair, Area Chair, Publicity Chair, and Registration Chair for ECCV, ICPR, IJCB, ACMMM, Chinese Control Conference, and Chinese Conference on Biometric Recognition.
Grant & Award Reviewer: Communication review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), as well as the Natural Science Foundations of Guangdong, Shandong, and Xiamen. Review expert for science and technology awards.
Research Achievements
Publications: Published/accepted over 100 papers in top-tier international and domestic journals (including IEEE T-PAMI, IJCV, *Scientia Sinica*) and conferences (including NeurIPS, AAAI, ECCV, ICCV, IJCB), with over 50 IEEE Transactions regular papers. Over 10 papers have received prestigious awards such as the AAAI Outstanding Paper Award and the IJCB Best Paper Award.
Patents: Holds 6 authorized international invention patents and over 60 national invention patents. 22 patents have been successfully transferred to industry partners.

Research Projects
Government Grants: Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI of 8 national-level projects, including the National Key R&D Program, the 173 Basic Strengthening Plan Key Projects, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). PI of over 10 provincial and ministerial-level projects. Research focuses on multi-biometric recognition and spoofing attack detection, video analysis and understanding, 3D reconstruction, and scene understanding.
Industry Collaboration: Collaborated with over 20 enterprises and institutions (including Hikvision, Hisense, China Southern Power Grid, Guangdong Airport Group, GRG Banking, and Xinhui CIMC) on industry-academia-research projects. Research focuses on intelligent video analysis in power grid and civil aviation scenarios, intelligent detection/recognition/tracking of on-site workers, document image analysis and recognition, 3D hand gesture estimation, 3D human pose estimation, biometric recognition systems, industrial intelligent robots, and industrial vision measurement.
Undergraduate Teaching & Mentoring
Courses: *Image Processing and Machine Vision*, *Innovative Practice in Machine Vision and Intelligent Detection* (Undergraduate); *Practice in Pattern Recognition and Machine Vision* (Graduate).
Competitions: Mentored undergraduates to win multiple national-level first prizes, including the Gold Award and Best Innovation Award at the Pan-Pearl River Delta Computer Works Competition, and the National First Prize & Guangdong Grand Prize at the 11th National College Student E-commerce “Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship” Challenge.
Thesis Awards: Over 10 supervised undergraduates have received the university-level “Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis” award in recent years.
Graduate Student Mentoring
Current Group: Currently supervising 3 postdocs and over 20 Ph.D. and Master’s students.
Student Awards: Supervised students have frequently won the National Scholarship, President’s Scholarship, and the title of “Guangdong Excellent Graduate,” as well as SCUT Outstanding Master’s Thesis Awards.
International Training: 8 Ph.D. students have received funding from national and provincial scholarship councils for one-year joint training at top overseas universities, including EPFL (Switzerland), University of Oulu (Finland), Lancaster University (UK), National University of Singapore (NUS), and Nanyang Technological University (NTU, Singapore).
Graduate Competition Achievements: 1st Place in the International Gait Recognition Competition, Bronze Award in the 7th China International “Internet+” College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, 1st Prize in the Cross-camera Pedestrian Tracking Task at the National Graduate Smart City Technology and Creative Design Competition, 1st Prize in the South China Region of the China Graduate Electronic Design Contest, and Champion of the Interspeech 2021 Personalized Voice Wake-up Challenge.
Career Placement:Ph.D. Graduates: All full-time Ph.D. alumni have secured positions at research institutes of leading enterprises (one was introduced via a national talent program) or at Project 211 universities (e.g., Southwest Jiaotong University, South China Normal University, Hefei University of Technology, Shanghai University).
Master’s Graduates: Typically pursue algorithm research (Computer Vision, Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning) at top tech companies’ research divisions, including State Grid, CRRC, Huawei, Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, JD.com, NVIDIA, ByteDance, Hikvision, Meituan, and NetEase. Others choose to continue their Ph.D. studies in the lab or at top universities in Hong Kong and abroad.
